What We’re Reading {November}

A little late with this post, but I have been reading so it’s time to share!

I am super excited to share this one with you…. Wildflower by Drew Barrymore.

Hubby bought me this as an early Christmas present and I read it in just hours. I started it last night and picked it up again this morning when I got up at 6am. Reading a book you love by the light of the Christmas tree is a such a nice way to start a lazy day….

Each chapter is it’s own story from her life. From child actor to a lost teenage girl trying to find her way, to actress, producer, and director, and now mom to two girls, she is full of love for life and her family. Her stories are about acting, friends, starting her own company, making many movies that I love, meeting her now-husband, meeting her in-laws, and the fierce love she has for her daughters. It is a fabulous read, I finished it in hours. I am not one to listen to audio books but this may be the first one I buy just to hear her tell her stories.

“We all have stories to tell. These are mine.”

~Drew Barrymore

Also recently, I came across a new-to-me author by way of my author friend Kathleen Long. She shared a book on Facebook and because I love it when authors recommend books, I jumped on it. And I have to admit, I love the cover of the book. I know we’re not supposed to judge a book by it’s cover, but if there is a dog on the cover of a book, you can be sure I’m going to pick it up.

House Trained by Jackie Bouchard is about Alex, an interior designer and dog-mom. Her and her husband learn that he has a teenage daughter who has a baby girl, making them parents AND grandparents all at once! Alex is trying to get her business going and the turmoil of the girls in their home is a bit much. There is love, laughter, a family learning to come together, and a dog who is at the center of them all.

It’s an easy read, I finished it pretty quick, and I loved the characters. If you love a feel good, heartwarming story, this is the perfect book!

I am currently reading another of her books – Rescue Me, Maybe – and also want to read What The Dog Ate.

Be sure to check in with my dear friend Angelina over at Run.Chew.Sparkle to see what she read this month as well!

What are you reading this month? I am always looking for new books to add to my to-read list!

  1. So glad you enjoyed House Trained! Hope you enjoy the other books as well! (I can’t resist a book with a dog on the cover either!)
