Another great week of training is complete! During this fifth week of training, I ran a day behind (literally) because on Tuesday I was having some foot pain. I skipped that run and by Wednesday I was ready to go again, taking it easy and running easy. Since then, I haven’t had any problems with it. Fortunately, the cold that I had last week went away and I haven’t had to deal with that.
My mileage also increased a little this week. I had a mid-week run of 4 miles and this morning 6 miles. This training reminds me every day how strong I am and what I am capable of.
Yesterday would have been cross-training day, but we spent the day in Orlando at FLBogCon so I will just count the walking I did towards that, although I didn’t keep track of any mileage for it.
Week 5
Monday – Rest
Tuesday – Rest due to foot pain
Wednesday – 3 mile run
Thursday – 4 mile run
Friday – 3 mile run
Saturday – walking around FLBlogCon
Sunday – 6 mile run
My long run this morning was so great. I ran it without music and enjoyed the quiet time. I ran all the way over the causeway and ran along beach. It was still dark out, and it rained lightly and the sound of the water was so calming. If you ever question what a run can do for you, take a quiet run in the early morning without music and enjoy every single second of it.
I loved this quote from Runners World this week… I think this applies to so much more than running, but it has taken running to make me see this. Learning my strengths in running has taught me that I am stronger than I ever realized.
Week 5 ended with 16.05 miles. I am looking forward to being a total bum the rest of the day. After this crazy busy week, I think I deserve it. And then I will be ready to tackle Week 6. Just 9 weeks until the Women’s Half Marathon in St. Petersburg. I am so excited for it.
What has running taught you? Do you enjoy running with or without music?
Way to go skinny Nanci! 😉 Great seeing you yesterday!

Nice job Nanci. Your run this weekend sounds perfect. The beach area in Clearwater is my favorite place to run or bike, and days like those are the exact reason. Doing it without music is so nice sometimes. My music didn’t work for the last 3 miles this morning, and it was nice how I was able to more easily zone out without it.
