These weeks of training sure are passing quickly. It still seems like I just started training and here I am ready to start Week 5.
This week I have been fighting a cold/sinus thing. I have no time to be sick or slowed down by headaches, stuffy noses, and scratchy throats. I was popping cold medicine and it did help. Despite having a cold and not feeling 100%, I ran my best and fastest 3 miles ever on Wednesday. I don’t know where it came from but my gosh, it felt great. I decided to switch Thursday’s run to Friday and took Thursday as a rest day like I did last week. I think this will be a permanent change. I have also been doing my #dailycorework every day.
We had our cutie-pie niece over yesterday for a sleepover so I did my run after my WW meeting instead of today. That 5 miles just about killed me. Running two hours later than normal made a big difference in the heat and the sun was already hot at 8 o’clock in the morning. My nose was also stopped up and that actually made me light-headed a couple times. There were a lot of walk breaks on this one. I was pretty happy to be done with it and an hour or so later, I was napping. I am quite sure that was a character-building run and will prepare me for the longer ones I have coming up. Right? Right. I also ran it music-free, which I have come to love. Who the heck am I??
Week 4 ended today with cross training by way of a walk to the park with my niece while she rode her bike, the perfect Sunday morning.
Week 4
Monday – Rest
Tuesday – 3 mile run
Wednesday – 3 mile run (fastest 3 miles ever!)
Thursday – Rest
Friday – 3 mile run
Saturday – 5 mile run
Sunday – Cross Training
Week 4 ended with 15.71 miles. Love it. This cold needs to be gone before I run again on Tuesday as Week 5 brings with it a 4 mile mid week run and then next Sunday, 6 miles. It’s getting serious now but I’m up for the challenge.
Do you run when you have a cold? Are you as tired of the heat as I am?
Nice week!! Your niece is a cutie pie 🙂 Good luck with your training!

Awesome job Nanci!! You’re doing a fabulous job getting all your runs. Congrats on your fastest three miler. Nice job running through you not feeling your best, but if you get to a point where you need to take an extra rest day to recover from illness, definitely do it! I know I have a hard time skipping, but if I’m sick I figure it’ll help more than hurt.

I always run music-free because I change my pace too much when I’m listening to music haha. I need to hear myself breathe to keep in rhythm. You’re doing great, congrats on your fastest time. Hope the sinuses clear up soon 🙂
