Last night, we went to the Rays game at Tropicana Field for 80’s night. They came up with a brilliant idea several years ago to do a Summer Concert Series after the games. We were lucky enough to see Daughtry the first year they had it and it was great. Last night, the series started with Kenny Loggins. 80’s girls that I am, when hubby got us tickets, I was excited to go. And even though I’m not really a baseball fan (sorry!), it is fun to go. Keep up that Summer Concert Series, Rays!
Our friends Josh and Tracy joined us and we had a great time. We even got to meet Kenny Loggins before the concert. And after the game was over, we went down on the field and listened to songs like This Is It, I’m Alright, Celebrate You Home, Danger Zone, and of course Footloose.
So glad we all got to hang out and have a great night, full of laughter and fun times!
Local friends, have you been to the Summer Concert Series? Do you love the 80’s as much as I do?
I am trying not to think about the fact that tomorrow is Monday. It has been such a great holiday weekend, full of family fun.
On Friday, after coming out of our Thanksgiving food coma, hubby and I took my mom to the Seminole Hard Rock Casino in Tampa. We go a couple times a year and enjoy feeding the slot machines our hard-earned money. All joking aside, we only take a little bit and when it’s gone, it’s gone. I once hit $350 on the Lil’ Ladybug slot machines there and they have been my favorite machines ever since. But this time, I found a new one that I love – Grease! – and I hit $185 on it! It was nice to come home with some money.
We had lunch at the Hard Rock Café while we were there and I enjoyed the Christmas decorations throughout the casino. They had a beautiful poinsettia tree, it was very festive. We had such a nice time, enjoying a day much needed day off from work.
Yesterday, I went to see Breaking Dawn Part 2 with my sister Jenni and sister-in-law Jenna. Jenna and I have seen all of the Twilight movies together, so it was only fitting that we saw the last one together. It was a great end to the series. I knew there was a twist going into it, having read several posts and FB updates about it, and even though Jenna told me what she thought it was, I was still surprised. Well played, Twilight, well played.
After a trip to Barnes & Noble, Old Navy (where I scored a jacket and shirt for $18!), and Bed Bath & Beyond, we ended the day at Nick & Jenna’s. My brother Nick is a grill master and when he invited us over for pulled pork, I knew we couldn’t miss it. He made a fantastic dinner, Thanksgiving 2.0 as Jenna called it. I can’t believe I didn’t take a picture of the feast he made. Bad blogger!
As the holiday weekend comes to an end (nooooo!), hubby and I will spend the day at home. I plan on putting up our Christmas tree, catching up on some blogging, and hopefully some reading. I had plans to read a lot this weekend and I have yet to pick up a book with all the fun we’ve been having.
What did you do this holiday weekend? Did you decorate for Christmas yet?
This past Thursday, I turned the big 4-0. Needless to say, I was not happy about it. Hubby and I went out to dinner Thursday night to Kobe’s Japanese Steakhouse. It is one of our favorite places to go, a wonderful evening out for just the two of us.
Today, it was a family get-together. We went to Bubba Gump Shrimp Co. at John’s Pass in Treasure Island. What a nice afternoon it was! We had a table out on the deck and there was a wonderful breeze. I always enjoy our family get-togethers. Family, food, and fun are three of my favorite things. After we ate, we walked around John’s Pass for ice cream and silliness with Autumn.
Turning 40 isn’t so bad when surrounded by loved ones. I am a lucky girl.
