A birthday and a recital!

4

Last Sunday was a busy day for the kiddos in the family. Our nephew Cooper was having a birthday party (he turned 4!!) and our niece Autumn was having her second dance recital. Unfortunately, they were both at the same time… So, my mom and I went up and spent some time with Cooper and Cole before the party so we could give him our gifts. It actually worked out well because we got to spend some one-on-one time with Cooper and Cole. There was much laughter and silliness while we were there. Hubby and I got Cooper a cool Superman flying toy and that was a hit. Especially when it hit the ceiling or one of them tried to catch it. Silly boys. Hard to believe Cooper is 4 now! He’s getting to be such a big boy. And Cole, who will be 3 in November, is the squeakiest little boy ever, not to mention the spitting image of my brother….

Cooper was pretty excited to get his gifts…

That afternoon, my mom and I met Nick and Jenna at Ruth Eckerd Hall for Autumn’s dance recital. The dance school that she goes to, Suncoast Academy of Dance, goes all out for this yearly recital. There are 2 acts, each with 30 or so songs / dances. The little ones are so adorable… The older kids are very talented and their hard work shows. This was my niece’s second year doing the recital and what a difference a year makes. Last year she was very timid and shy. They danced to Walking On Sunshine and it was so cute! This year she was very excited and all smiles on stage and even waved at us. She never ceases to amaze me and I love sharing proud aunt moments!

happy new year 2013

As 2012 comes to an end tonight and we welcome 2013, I am thinking about this year and all the things I accomplished. 2012 has definitely been the year of stepping outside of my comfort zone. I’ve done so many things that I normally would not do. I hope that I continue to face my fears head-on in 2013.

To finish out the year, I thought I’d do a list of my favorite posts of the year. This was really tough to narrow down and I’m probably forgetting something, but these posts meant the most to me. From completing not one but TWO half-marathons, meeting the wonderful women of Tampa Bay Lady Bloggers, my first blog conference, becoming Yelp Elite, starting Jingle Bikes For Kids, wonderful family time, along with several struggles I faced - it’s been a memorable year.  I hope you enjoy this look back with me…

I love my blog and I really look forward to continuing to blog in 2013 and to see how it grows. I would like to thank each and every one of you for following and showing interest in my babbling. It helps to keep me sane.

Wishing you all a SAFE and Happy New Year!!

Christmas Eve Magic

3

Merry Christmas everyone! As I type this, A Christmas Story is on TV, I’m drinking a hot soy latte, and thinking about the pumpkin pie bars and pasta salad I still need to make for later.

Last night, we all celebrated Christmas Eve at Joey and Devon’s house, my brother and sister-in-law, with their boys Cooper and Cole. The kiddos were in full playtime mode and the sound of laughter and giggling filled the house. There was food, fun, and presents! It was a very nice night. Funniest moment of the night – when Cole went to tell Simon (the Elf, currently perched on the tree) that Cooper wasn’t being good. Classic!

I took so many photos – and a fun video – so I better get to it!

Today we will have Christmas dinner at Nick and Jenna’s house and give Autumn her gift! Can’t wait to see her face when we give it to her. (hint, ponies!!!!) Today, as always, I am thankful for wonderful family times!

Merry Christmas to you all!

Sunday Birthday Party!

3

Normally I would do a Sunday in the kitchen post since today is Sunday. I will stray from that today because I don’t have anything really exciting in the kitchen today. We went grocery shopping this morning and stocked up for the week. I am currently making dinner, which is a not-so-healthy taco bake, but man does it smell good!

What I do want to talk about today is my nephew’s birthday party! Super-Cooper as I like to call him, turned 3! He is a little cutie-pie. His birthday party was at Jungle Bounce in Holiday and there was plenty of bouncing, sliding, and laughter from the kiddos. Afterwards there was super yummy cake (the icing was FABULOUS!) and Cooper had a great time opening all his gifts.

Here are some fun pictures from today…
