Goalgetter2013 – June

Hello, June! There’s really only one reason I like June, and that would be because hubby’s birthday is this month. Otherwise, I am not a fan of June or July or August. I hate the summer!!! June also means we are almost halfway through the year and it has been a busy and fun year so far! I can’t believe everything I’ve accomplished, and I have so much more I want to do.

I am halfway through my weight loss journey. Twenty pounds gone, twenty more to go. Having been at it for five months now, I feel like this it’s going to be more difficult from here on out. So, I need to really get back to the basics and stay on top of the one thing that is the most important to my success.

The last couple of weeks, I have missed tracking a couple days for whatever reason. By tracking everything I eat, every single day, whether it’s healthy or not, it helps keep me accountable. And while I can really eat whatever I want, It’s all about portion control for me. Is it worth it to have it for whatever the points may be? This is the main reason I track.

And while this goal is not directly fitness related, my ActiveLink is part of the tracking. Wearing it every day will keep track of my activity and I will earn extra points. It all goes hand in hand and I think this will be a great goal to focus on for June. One of the sayings we share at WW is “only track on the days you want to lose weight”… Makes sense to me!

Since I am sharing this post a few days late, I will say that since Saturday the 1st, I have tracked everything so far and I am hoping to keep it up!

Would you like to take part in the #goalgetter2013 challenge? It’s pretty simple….

Goals are most successful when broken up into smaller goals! Post a picture on Instagram on the last day of each month to show how you are working toward achieving your goals! Use the hashtag #goalgetter2013.

If you’d like to take part in this challenge and have another way to keep yourself accountable this year, you should definitely join in! Visit the #goalgetter2013 Facebook page today!

WW Weigh-In #22

What a long week this short week was. Anyone else feel that way? Thank goodness it’s over and its now the weekend. Once again, I was up dark and early for WW and my weigh-in. I knew going in this morning that there would be a gain and that’s okay. It was just one of those weeks. I was over on my points and there was stress. That is a gain the making. However, I was pleasantly surprised that I did not gain more than I did. See? There’s a bright side to everything. Also, looking back over my weigh-ins, this is the first gain I’ve had in 7 weeks!

WW Weekly weigh-in Week 22

Things I did right this week are:

  • I tracked every day except Wednesday. Yay for tracking 6 out of 7 days in a crazy, holiday week.
  • I finished my #mayruneveryday challenge – 31 runs in 31 days for a total of 56.66 miles.
  • For each bad choice I made last week, I tried to make another good choice. If you’re bad on a meal, don’t throw in the towel on the whole day. One meal at a time, is my theory.

What I will focus on this week:

  • Tracking every day is my biggest priority this week.
  • If this week is another stressful one, I will do my best to not cave just because I’m stressed.
  • Water is my friend. Thinking about keeping a jug of water in the fridge with fresh squeezed lemon in it just to be different when I’m home.
  • Hoping to get back to yoga this month now that my month of running challenge is over. However, I still plan to run. A lot.

Another very active week and a total of 45 activity points! They add up quickly when I run every day, that’s for sure.

Today is the Live Life Active event at my WW center, and many others all over! I’m speaking at 3pm about what else, running… I’m taking some (maybe all?) of my medals and share my running journey. I have an idea of what I’m going to say, but in all honestly, I’m just going to wing it. Wish me luck!

I already ran today, after being stung by a wasp walking out my front door. It hurt like crazy. Stupid wasp. But I still had a great run, speedy even!

I hope you all have a great weekend, whatever your plans may be!

WW Weigh-In #21

Happy holiday weekend! I am so excited about the long weekend. But holiday or not, I started my weekend off bright and early, or should I say dark and early, at my WW meeting.

The other day, I posted this on Facebook. It was funny, but mostly it was true. All week long, I have been so bloated. SO bloated. Add to that running in the heat and all the water I’m drinking and yea, I was definitely feeling like a busted can of biscuits.

Because of that feeling all week, I was prepared for a gain. I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that I had maintained and stayed the exact same as last week. Whew! Once again, a reminder that you cannot just go by how you feel or the scale.

Things I did right this week are:

  • Ran every day and now there’s less than a week to go on my challenge. 6 more runs to go and I’ll have run every day for 31 days.
  • WATER!!! It has been so hot here, water is an absolute necessity.
  • We stocked up on groceries last weekend thanks to a great sale at Publix, so we were well prepared for lunches and dinners all week.

What I will focus on this week:

  • A long holiday weekend could very easily be sabotage so I will do my best to eat well when I can, but also enjoy the fun and festivities. I have extra points to enjoy!
  • Water, water, water. I know, I’m a broken record, but I have to stay on top of the water.
  • Track every day. This is normally a given but will likely be a challenge on the long weekend when it’s not our usual routine.
  • Finish out my run every day challenge!

My activity points were down a little this week from last. Some of my runs were shorter than last week, simply because of the heat, but I certainly wasn’t going to be stupid about it.

Next weekend is the Live Life Active event at my meeting center. They handed out the schedule today and I’ll be speaking at 3pm. It’s getting real now! Guess I better figure out what I’m going to say!

After the meeting this morning, I did my run. I love running on weekend mornings when I am not rushed to get to work. I plan on running tomorrow morning and Monday morning as well, before it gets too hot.

I hope you all have a fun and safe holiday weekend!

WW Weigh-In #20

Twenty weeks! This is the second longest time I’ve stayed with WW and there is no doubt it was a great decision to go back on January 1 and start 2013 off right. No. Doubt.

This week’s weigh-in….

WW Weekly weigh-in Week 20

Twenty weeks has brought me an average of a pound a week! Some weeks have been up, some have been down but it’s a pretty good pace to lose weight and keep it off. I ‘m not in this to lose it fast. I want to lose it slow so it doesn’t come back. That’s the plan – keep it off.

Things I did right this week are:

  • Ran my butt off. I am in the midst of week 3 of the #mayruneveryday challenge and I’ve been doing 2 miles daily.
  • Eat a healthy snack before and after a run. Bananas are my friend!
  • Took my lunch 4 of 5 days as planned.
  • Tracked everything, even the splurges last weekend. It’s important to track everything. Here’s a good one to remember…. Only track on the days you want to lose weight.
  • I’ve been drinking Smart Water after my runs for the electrolytes.

What I will focus on this week:

  • Running!
  • Time to stock up on fruits and veggies again. This week, I’m going to freeze some grapes for a great post-run snack.
  • I have a new chicken recipe to try thanks to our friend Ashley. It sounds amazing!
  • Will finish typing up my recipes to share with all those who have asked about them. I’ve taken forever to do it (sorry!!!) and it will be a great reminder for myself.

I finally hit 50 activity points for the week…. 53 to be exact! Running every day has obviously played a big part in that.

activelink 051113 thru 051713

I also received the report for the end of my first 12-week challenge. It’s mind boggling to think about how I’ve earned 396 activity points in those 12 weeks.

And because non-scale victories are just as important as what the scale says, I had a HUGE one yesterday. Since summer is here (groan), I had to buy a pair of running shorts that I could actually run in. The pair I have constantly ride up and it’s not comfortable. They’re good for just wearing, but not running in. I went to Sports Authority with a $7 rewards certificate and a 20% off coupon and decided to splurge on myself. Shorts were a priority but I also found a cute top. It was worth every penny… Never underestimate the power of nice running clothes that fit well. Thank you New Balance! I love my capris and I’m sure I will wear them again, but the shorts I bought are amazing. They didn’t ride up once during my run this morning and they are slimming. As for the top, it has a built-in sports bra which means I’m not constantly adjusting my tank top. It is so important to be comfortable while running. There’s even a little zipper pocket on the shirt for my key. Love! And most exciting of all, I feel amazing wearing it.

I’ve already done my morning run and had my coffee and a yummy egg and salsa breakfast. Next up is an afternoon with my fabulous sister-in-law Jenna, for lunch and a book event at Inkwood Books in Tampa. It’s always fun to spend time together!

Have a great weekend!

WW Weigh-In #19

Good morning! It has already been a productive morning for me…. After my WW meeting, hubby and I went for a 2 mile run, completing day 11 of the #mayruneveryday challenge we are participating in. Holy humidity! And then we went to Starbucks with a very excited Blue and Ozzie. They got their treats and I got my coffee. It’s a good day already!

WW Weekly weigh-in Week 19

I had a small loss this week, 0.2 lbs., which is always to be expected after a big week like I had last week. I’ll take it. With all the running I’m doing, I’m drinking more water and eating more. However, I am noticing things like my running capris being loose and I’m feeling tall and strong!

Things I did right this week are:

  • I ran every day and on my best day, I ran a 9:48 mile. What a confidence booster that was! It’s always a great feeling when hard work pays off and improvements are made.
  • Changed it up a little for dinner twice this week. One night I had a pork chop, sliced, over broccoli slaw. It was very light and delicious. Another night I browned some lean ground beef in olive oil with squash. I have not been eating a lot of red meat so this was a yummy change!
  • Tracked everything I ate this week.
  • Water, dear water. It’s a good thing I love water.

What I will focus on this week:

  • Keep up with the running challenge, almost halfway through the month!
  • Take my lunch 4 of 5 days this week. This is probably one of the best things I do to help keep on track and I can enjoy a “bigger” meal for dinner which is the meal I enjoy most.
  • Stock up on fruits… I enjoyed pineapple last week, which I had not had in awhile. I’ve also been eyeing the fresh raspberries at the store.
  • Try one new recipe this week. It’s important to change it up.

Another stellar week on my ActiveLink… I didn’t make it to my goal of 50 for the week, but 44 is nothing to sneeze at!

Our excitement for the weekend includes the Rays game tonight and Kenny Loggins post-game concert (and meet and greet!). Yes, I am such an 80’s girl. Grocery shopping, cleaning (if I have to), reading, another run tomorrow morning, and then Mother’s Day lunch. I hope the weekend doesn’t pass too quickly…

Have a fabulous weekend!
