Another week, another Wednesday. And actually, two weeks has passed since my last Runners Who Rock feature as I was overloaded with work last week. I hated that I missed this, but sometimes my real life gets in the way. Boo…. But, I am back this week and I am SUPER excited about this one.
I’d love for you to meet Xi (short for Xiomara)! She is a local blogging friend who I met in 2012. She just happened to buy the Garmin watch my friend was selling and then we met at a blogger meet-up. She is a mom, runner, and just all around cool. Sometimes on Sundays, we run together virtually as we are both training for our next half marathon. Her family also owns Parkesdale, a local farm market that makes some pretty amazing milkshakes.
When did you start running? I started running in 2006 after gaining 50 lbs. from my first pregnancy.
Who or what inspires you to run? The feeling of accomplishment. Knowing that if I set my mind to do something, I can accomplish it.
What is your favorite running mantra? You can do this.
What is your favorite running or fitness blog? Heather Hesington from Housewife Glamour.
What is the first race you ever ran? My first race was a Tri Fort Lauderdale.
Name one thing you learned from your first race? Don’t bring a mountain bike to a triathlon.
What are you currently training for? I’m currently training for my first Disney race, the Wine & Dine Half Marathon.
What one piece of running gear you cannot live without? My Mizuno running shoes.
Share one piece of advice to new runners… Start slow and don’t give up. It doesn’t matter how fast you are going, what matters is that you got outside!
And for fun… What do you like to do besides run? I love to cook, shop and spend time with my family.
