Are you ready to meet another runner who rocks? This week is all about Rebecca W., a fellow SweatPink ambassador. I love the name of her blog – One Foot 2 Foot – which I find very inspirational. She is active on social media, which of course I love… All this means if you follow Rebecca, she will inspire you too!
When did you start running? I’ve been running all through high school & college to stay in shape for dance, but it was only a few miles once or twice a week. I started to focus solely on running in 2010 after I left the professional dance company I was performing with.
Who or what inspires you to run? Life. Having a body that moves and is able to run. Meeting people at races from all around who overcome physical limitations to do something they love. To know that I can always go a little further and push a little more.
What is your favorite running mantra? I’ve got a few: 1) Run your own race – don’t compare yourself to the person running next to you because they could be at a totally different training level than you are. 2) If you’re not smiling from satisfaction at the end of a workout, you’re doing it wrong – sweat, pain and hard work are bound to be in any workout. If you’re loving what you’re doing and finding the fun in it, it’s all the more worth it and you’re 10x as likely to do it again.
What is your favorite running or fitness blog? SO hard to pick one! Some that I love are: Hungry Runner Girl, Healthy Tipping Point and Ali On The Run.
What is the first race you ever ran? The very first race I ever ran – I was 6 years old, it was a 5k for our town celebration. I don’t remember how well I did with the race (neither does my mom), all I remember is that my little sister beat me to the finish line!
Name one thing you learned from your first race? Uh, probably that everyone has a different level of “best” and all I should ever worry about is my own “best”.
What are you currently training for? Signed up for my first ultra marathon a few days ago! SUPER EXCITED!! A 50k in December in San Francisco. I’m hoping to do the Squamish 50mi or another 50mi next year sometime.
What one piece of running gear you cannot live without? Gear? Along with correct fitting shoes and clothes…it may not be technically classified as ‘gear’ – definitely hydration. Especially for my long runs or my hot runs. One brand that I absolutely love more than any others I’ve tried is Osmo Nutrition (www.osmonutrition.com).
Share one piece of advice to new runners… Never look at exercises or running distances as things that you can’t do; instead look at them as things that you will do. Perspective changes EVERYTHING.
And for fun… What do you like to do besides run? Whatever I can! Yoga, hike, kayak, paddle board, dance, camp, travel…go on as many adventures as possible 🙂

Great share – loved the mantra about smiling from satisfaction at the end of a run!!! Good luck on the ultra plans – I’m running my first (50 miles) in just over a week!
