This week’s spotlight comes on the heels of the 38th Marine Corps Marathon. Coming from someone who thinks A LOT about running a full marathon, this race is one that I can only imagine running. I am lucky to know several runners who participated in this race, and for some of them it was their very first full marathon. They trained hard for it and gave it all they had. I thought it only fitting that this week’s feature be about one of those first timer’s….
When did you start running? I started running in January 2011.
Who or what inspires you to run? My children inspire me to run. They are so carefree and young. I want to be healthy and strong for them.
What is your favorite running mantra? “One mile at a time.”
What is your favorite running or fitness blog? There are so many great running/fitness blogs. My absolute favorite has to be Stuft Mama (www.stuftmama.com) she is absolutely hilarious and I can relate to a lot of her posts. Plus we are running shoe twins 🙂
What is the first race you ever ran? The first race I ran was the Baltimore Half Marathon in 2011.
Name one thing you learned from your first race? It’s important to know the course. The course at my first half had hills so I made sure to incorporate hills into my training.

What one piece of running gear you cannot live without? My Garmin.
Share one piece of advice to new runners… Trust your training.
