I am constantly inspired by runners and their accomplishments. This feature I started has been great, allowing me to get to know more runners who inspire me. I hope that you are enjoying this feature as much as I am!
This week, I have yet another runner who rocks. I’d love for you to meet Mar, a fellow Sweat Pink Ambassador and IDEA Inspired Blogger. This girl is a machine! She just completed her 13 in 2013 challenge. You must visit her blog after you read this post and see how busy she has been.
When did you start running? I’ve been a “runner” for about 20 years but always for exercise and never for sport. I started running regularly and for distance about 4 years ago and entered my first race, a 10K, in 2010. I’ve been hooked ever since.
Who or what inspires you to run? Running is for me so inspiration comes from within. However, as a running blogger and a member of some fabulous fitness communities, I am inspired daily by the people I meet and read about.
What is your favorite running mantra? “Just Keep Going.”
What is your favorite running or fitness blog? I have so many, don’t think I could list just one!!
What is the first race you ever ran? Hyannis 10K in Hyannisport, MA. It was February and cold but fun and fueled my racing addiction!
Name one thing you learned from your first race? Don’t wear cross-trainers to run!
What are you currently training for? I start training for my first marathon this month!
What one piece of running gear you cannot live without? My Asics Gels.
Share one piece of advice to new runners… Running is a mental sport. Your body can do anything your mind wills it to. Having said that, know and appreciate the power of rest when you need it, running isn’t going anywhere.
And for fun… What do you like to do besides run? I am a huge sports fan and if I’m not writing for my fitness blog, you can find me in the stands at a Steelers game, at a neighborhood Steelers bar with friends or writing for my sports blog!! Notice the theme…
