Get Your Om On…

Yesterday morning, after running 4 miles over the causeway to the beach, I met my fabulous friend Caitlyn at the Epicurean Hotel in South Tampa for Yoga With A Twist. I have a special love for yoga and always wish I had more time in my life for it. After yesterday’s class, I know I need to make it a priority.

Typically the last Sunday morning of each month, Yoga With A Twist is an outdoor class under a tent at the exquisite Epicurean Hotel on South Howard Avenue. Having been there before for a tasting at Elevage, their delicious restaurant, I knew I was in for a treat for the location alone.

It’s important to reserve your spot ahead of time if you plan to go and you can pay for the class OR the class and a beverage from the bar during their Sunday morning Happy Hour. I opted for the class and beverage because why not?!

Caitlyn and I took a spot at the back of the tent, it was pretty full so we were actually just outside of the tent. I honestly feel like we had the best spot there. The breeze was amazing and the view above me – this beautiful blue sky and white clouds just floating by – was so serene. I normally close my eyes during savasana, but couldn’t stop looking at the sky above me yesterday.

Much of yesterday’s class had hip openers, which as a runner I very much appreciate. Having run now for the last 67 days, every pose was a wonderful – and much needed – stretch for my body. I was very impressed with myself too. It has been some time since I’ve taken a yoga class and successfully did tree pose and dancer pose on one side yesterday.

Soft music played throughout class and they had adjusters who walked around to help you make corrections if needed, and only if you like, of course. Class ended with a heavenly ice cold towel on our forehead and a champagne toast. What did we toast? Ourselves. For taking the time to take care of ourselves.

After class, Caitlyn and I headed to the bar for our beverage and had wonderful chats, as we always do. I had the sangria which was delicious and she had the Dark & Stormy, also delicious.

I am so glad I took the time to go. The stretching, the beautiful atmosphere, the relaxation, and catching up with Caitlyn after made for a pretty amazing Sunday morning. Already planning to attend next month…

Note to self…. Take time to do yoga. It does wonders for you.
