It’s Friday again, which always makes me happy. I have another busy weekend ahead but I am also looking forward to some downtime. It seems I am always on the go. But first, it’s time for the Friday Five. Once again, I am linking up with Mar, Courtney, and Cynthia. I hope you’ll check out their blogs as well!
I have professed my love for Weight Watchers on here before, but I will do it again. There are many reasons that Weight Watchers works for me and that is why I love it.
1. Support
When you join WW, you have choices. You can attend meetings or follow online. I love the meetings and I feel like that is one of the things that makes it work for me. I need to know that come Saturday morning, I am going to my meeting. I love my meeting – Beverly is a wonderful leader, the receptionists Marilyn and Connie are amazing and helpful, and the members are like a big family.
2. You can eat anything
I love to eat. And I love alot of different foods. I am blessed to have my dad’s wide variety of tastes when it comes to food. So, the thought of being on a diet is just not fun. I don’t want to be on a diet. I want to learn how to eat and lose weight – or maintain at some point – and live life happy. This girl would not be happy without pasta, bread, wings, or pizza. I just can’t deprive myself of food and eating. Weight Watchers teaches you that you really can eat anything. It’s all about portion control, knowing the points, and maybe modifying recipes to make them a little less bad for you. If I know I’m going out for a meal that I’ll splurge on, I’ll be very mindful of that for lunch or dinner before. You really can eat anything.
3. Friendship
This is a big one. One of the reasons I love my Saturday morning meeting is the friendships I’ve made there. There’s something about being in a room full of people who are also trying to live a healthier lifestyle and lose weight. There is camaraderie there just from a common interest. You can talk about your struggles and more without judgment. This also extends outside of the meeting, thanks to social media.
4. Points / Healthy Guidelines
I love the points system. It’s a combination of fat, carbohydrates, fat, and protein. You are given a set number of points to use daily, with extra weekly points to use. There are also power foods, many of which are 0 points. When I joined WW originally back in 2006, it was a little different than the current Points Plus Values, but now most fruits and veggies are 0 points. But, WW does not just focus on food. They also recommend that you drink water, eat fruits and veggies, have dairy for calcium, vitamins, healthy oils, and that you be active. No one thing is going to work. It’s all about a healthy lifestyle where everything works together.
5. It works
In 2006 when I first joined, I lost 27 pounds. Since going back in 2013, I am down 23 pounds. When you work the program, the program works. Every week of weight loss adds up.When you have a gain, you look back at what you did the week and make changes. It’s an ongoing journey. But, IT WORKS.
After missing last week’s meeting, I am excited to go back tomorrow!
Do you currently follow Weight Watchers? If so, what do you like about it? If you questions about Weight Watchers, I’d also be happy to answer them!
I have never gone to a weight watchers meeting, but I was thinking about trying it out after the baby comes.
Looks like that plan has been really successful for you. Awesome job you’ve accomplished a lot. One of my best friends has also found lots of success with the program but she likes the old one better?
You look great! I’ve never done WW but my mom has lost over 70 pounds on it, so I trust it works!
Good for you! I’ve never been to WW but hear nothing but good things those I know who have.
I tried to do that “points” thing but it got too confusing for me. Good luck!
I am also doing ww. Do you use your flex points weekly and do you use your activity points?
Hi Nikki, I always use my weekly points and I will use some of my activity points, but not usually all. Hope this helps!
#2 and 4 were the reason I joined.
I am loving all the support I am getting from meetings though.
It is a fabulous program.
