Well, technically two days to go, because I already ran this morning…. I am so close to completing this challenge. So close to running every single day in this month. Yesterday completed week four, 28 days.
The fourth week brought with it a lot of heat and I didn’t get quite as many miles in as I had wanted to when I did afternoon runs. The long holiday weekend brought glorious morning runs. I love running when I am not rushed. Yesterday morning, I started the day off with a run before work and it was a great way to start the day, before the heat arrived. Although it was humid, there was almost a cool breeze.
It also brought the makings of a beautiful sunrise last Friday morning. It was so clear out, what a pretty view… On this particular morning, I ran a 9:39 minute mile, which is now my fastest mile ever. There is no rhyme or reason to how these speedy runs happen every once in awhile, they just do. I love it when it does, it’s a great reminder of how each little improvement over time adds up.
I feel strong and steady with each run. I’m trying really hard to work on my breathing because I feel that is where I really need improvement. My legs are the last thing to get tired. I feel like if I could breathe more efficiently I could go farther on a regular basis. As for my pace, I am pretty darn happy with my average of 10:30ish.
My 3.11 mile run on Sunday over the Memorial Bridge set a new best 5K time for myself. I have an ultimate goal to beat 34:00. but beating 35:00 like I did that day was a first.
I am also thrilled that I didn’t get on the evil treadmill once in week 4. I’m pretty sure I‘ll just reserve that for rainy days.
My total mileage for these past four weeks is 51.29, so I’ve hit my original goal of 50 miles for the month. I’m still hoping I can hit 56 miles. I’ve already run this morning, so technically I jut have two more runs for the month!
