Holy cow, it’s been a whole year since I did a “Currently” post. It’s also been a couple weeks since I did any kind of post, so perfect timing to do this.
The Husband’s Secret by Liane Moriarty – so far so good, although I have no clue what the secret is yet.
Pretty much anything Luke Bryan and Jason Aldean is on my list right now. I love all of their music. And really, they could just sing words that make no sense at all and I’d still love it.
Current Guilty Pleasure:
Hubby recently bought me the iPhone 6 Plus. I was so excited about that! It took me forever to decide if I really wanted to go with the ginormous 6 Plus or stick with the 6. I decided to go with the 6 Plus and I’m so glad I did. I love the size of it (hello awesome photos!) and it is not too big at all. In fact, my work phone, which is a 5, seems teeny tiny now. Even better, we got an open box deal at Best Buy and saved money. My aunt bought me a super cute case for it and I just ordered another case designed by my sister-in-law on her book blog, Bookiemoji. A girl needs phone case options, right?
Anything Starbucks, thanks to the string of gift cards I’ve received since my birthday. Earning stars and free drinks is fun. Since I’m also trying to be better about what I’m eating and drinking, I’ve been enjoying a nonfat coffee frappaccino with a shot of espresso, no whip, and a teeny bit of caramel drizzle on top. It’s super yummy!
I have fallen so far off the wagon with food, I can’t even see the tire tracks anymore. Seriously. I cannot stop eating and it’s a real problem. I know I’ve put on weight since before my marathon. It’s a daily struggle. I start each day with good intentions and thoughts of making the best choices I can. Being super busy, while certainly is not an excuse, has not helped. So, my current food is ALL THE FOOD. I am trying to make small changes to get back to where I was because frankly, I am not happy with how I feel in my clothes right now. Not. At. All.
I am loving The Big Bang Theory and Wahlburgers right now. But, I’ve also been catching reruns of Friends and that just never gets old. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve seen every single episode, but I don’t care. I will never tire of that show.
Current Wish List:
Sadly, the responsible homeowner in me is dreaming of a new a/c unit, ductwork, and insulation. It has been a need for a few years now and I think this will be the year we’ll have to bite the bullet and do it. I cannot take another hot-as-the-face-of-the-sun summer with outrageous power bills.
I’m struggling with this one right now because I have not been motivated as of late. I haven’t run in almost 5 weeks which is forever for me. Between dealing with knee pain in my last half marathon and giving the knee a break, to work and life being crazy, running has sadly taken a back seat. This weekend, though, I am running half marathon #14 in Sarasota. so that alone is a triumph. I have no idea how it will go and I have no expectations for anything fabulous. But I will enjoy getting out there and running a beautiful route and earning one of my favorite medals.
My biggest source of inspiration right now is my friend Angelina. She recently had a foot injury and was sidelined from running. But that has not stopped her from being a rock star as she continues with her weight loss and making the most of what she can do. Please go visit her at Run.Chew.Sparkle and say hi to her.
Running shoes. I am still in the shoes that took me across the finish line of Space Coast Marathon and this weekend will be it for them, their last run before I put them away for good. I am excited to have a new pair coming my way in the next week or so. I decided to stick with the same shoes, the Asics Gel Nimbus 16. I figure if they carried me through 18 weeks of marathon training and the marathon itself, it’s a good shoe. Why change now?
This is a tough one, because I’m not one to really indulge in things for myself. But since I already mentioned my beloved iPhone 6 Plus, I’ll have to say my new hobby that my Aunt BJ shared with me. Turn a picture frame, some fabric, and an embellishment or two into an adorable jewelry display. She made me one (top) and brought it with her on their recent visit and then helped me make my own (bottom). The possibilities are endless. So of course, I’ve already made several trips to Jo-Anne Fabrics and Home Goods.
I want to live in yoga pants, a cute top, and my Mizunos. It’s so comfortable and yoga pants are the bomb. They are black and slimming. Need I say more?
Recently, 4 of my mom’s sisters came out to visit. My mom was expecting only my Aunt Darlene and had no idea there was a huge surprise in the works for her. My Aunt BJ and Debi also came from California. And then two days later, my Aunt Judy arrived from South Dakota. It was a wonderful visit, full of fun and laughter. I really treasure times like that because it is rare for all of us to be in the same place. I miss them bunches!
Meh… I am trying hard to get back on track and in a routine. I know what I need to do and how to do it. But executing it is proving to be a challenge. Each day that I eat a healthy breakfast, pack my lunch and snacks, skip the soda, and don’t have ice cream for dessert is a step in the right direction. Adding running and maybe some yoga back in mix would be even better. I need to find some balance on all fronts.
