Yelp Fits The Bill at Fitlife Foods!

4

It has been too long since I’ve been to a Yelp Elite event so I was happy to make it this one. Hubby tagged along with me, he’s my favorite +1 to take along. Fitlife Foods has been on my list of places to try for awhile. There are plenty to choose from in the area – St. Pete, Clearwater, and Tampa, all easy to get to. The Elite event was at the South Tampa location.

If you are not familiar with Fitlife Foods, they provide freshly prepared meals and snacks, all made in house with fresh ingredients. There are different size options (small, medium, large, or one size). They also have customized wellness solutions to fit your goals and time schedule, designed to best suit your needs.

I was very impressed by this location and the kitchen and food prep area. We were spoiled with an assortment of foods to sample and tempt our taste buds. From Sicilian Chicken Meatballs to their Signature Nacho Cheese Queso Dip, a Chili Lime Dip, and an AMAZING Snickerdoodle Cookie…. It was all delicious and extremely fresh.

I was also impressed to learn that they cut their meats and fish IN the cooler. We met “Polar Bear” Mike who works in there all day! They have large walk-in refrigerators and freezers and a very clean kitchen area. All of this means that the meals we purchase will be very fresh and full of flavor. Served in recyclable plastic containers, each meal is labeled with nutritional info and the “Best By” date, no more than 3 days out.

Since I follow Weight Watchers, I was calculating the points of a couple meals using the nutritional info. They made my day when they offered me a list of their meals with “points” calculated! It couldn’t be any easier! From breakfast to burgers, full meals with sides, sauces, and desserts, it is all very well planned out. I look forward to trying the meals we brought home and can’t wait to go back!

As with the other Yelp events I’ve had the pleasure of attending, there was plenty of Yelp Swag and we were once again treated well with Fitlife samples and goodies to bring home. My blogging friends Katrina, Grace, and Caroline were there, but I was a bad blogger and didn’t get any photos of us! I also met new Yelp Elite member, Dianna. it’s always fun to meet new people at this events.

Thank you Fitlife Foods and Yelp for a nice evening and delicious foods!

Comments mean so much…

7

I think most bloggers will agree that receiving really nice comments makes blogging worth it. I am fortunate, so far, that I have not received an awful comment, but I know they are out there.

Yesterday, I received a comment on my Goalgetter2013 – How did I do in March? post that really made me smile. It was so sweet, and it pretty much summed up the reason why I blog.

Nanci, I love your transparency, your tenacity, and cheer your accomplishments…which are many! Whether you know it or not, you are an inspiration! You are real and fun! I loved your honesty when you were frustrated and DONE with Weight Watchers, I’ve been there too. I loved seeing and feeling your passion as you have returned to WW. I can feel your happiness through your posts and photos! You should be bursting with pride accomplishing all those runs after your injuries…you inspire me! Thanks again for putting yourself out there! Cheers to an Awesome April!

I am very open and honest in my blog. To share my weight for all to see is a big thing. To share when I have a bad week and eat everything in site is not easy. But I am human. And before I started my own blog, I was reading blogs that inspired me for that exact reason.

I’ve said all along that my blog more than anything is for me. It helps keep me accountable every single day. I am not perfect, I have bad days and want to eat, eat, eat. I love beer more than I probably should. Some days I don’t even want to think about putting on my running shoes.  There are days when I have willpower of steel. And then I can go from one extreme to the other just like that. I might be that irritating person who posts meals, workouts, and more but I need to do it. I need to do it so I don’t give up on the days that are hard.

It’s not easy to post about a weight gain or a missed run or a race that didn’t go as great as I thought. But I do it for support. There are so many others out there in my shoes – either inspiring me or perhaps I’m inspiring them.

So when I receive an email like that, it makes me smile. It reminds me of the days before I was a blogger, when I was inspired by others’ journeys. It inspired me enough to start my own blog and put myself out there. Everyone has a different battle they are fighting and everyone has some sort of motivation to offer. To know that I inspired someone else is a wonderful thing. Thank you Kim, for that comment. It was a great way to start a Monday morning!

Goalgetter2013 – April

12

Happy April! The sun is shining, it’s warming up outside (which doesn’t totally make me happy but we can pretend), and shorts weather is right around the corner. It also means it’s time to set share my April #goalgetter2013 goal.

Surprise, surprise…. My April goal is going to be the same as my March goal!

Seriously, I am TOO close to this goal to not aim for it again. Since March was not necessarily my lucky month and I ended the month at the same exact weight that I started at, maybe April will be it! 10% will put me at 160.2 lbs., just 3 pounds from what I weighed in at this past Saturday. And for the heck of it, I want to lose 1 extra pound and get back into the 150’s.

And because this will be such a HUGE goal to meet, I will reward myself with a new yoga top I have my eye on at lululemon. I keep looking at it on their website and I don’t dare go to the store until I reach my 10%…. This will be a great treat to myself for hitting such a milestone! Which color should I get??

I hope that April is kind to me! #ExpectAmazing

Blog Love: MetamorFit

4

It seems I haven’t done a Blog Love post in awhile and I have the perfect one to bring it back again… I have gotten to know so many wonderful bloggers here in the Tampa area, thanks to a great group on Facebook. It’s amazing to me how many health and fitness bloggers there are here. I really hope to meet this particular blogger in person because she is such an inspiration.

Today’s Blog Love goes out to… MetamorFit written by Jenny Hodges.

Jenny has lost an AMAZING 212 pounds by changing the way she eats, following Weight Watchers, and being very active. I follow her on Facebook and Twitter and I always love to see her posts and pictures of her activities, workouts, and meals. She’s a wife and mother of 3, has an adorable dog, and makes sure to take time for herself to maintain her loss. She runs, does CrossFit, group fitness classes, and spinning. And… She was part of a national ad campaign for my beloved Weight Watchers. She is AMAZING!

Jenny also does VLOGs, which I really like. It’s great to read a blog, but it’s also really nice to listen to a person talk and share their thoughts and emotions.

If you are just starting out on your journey, or are struggling with a plateau, or maybe need just a little nudge to keep up your weight loss, Jenny is a wonderful motivator! I hope you’ll take the time to visit MetamorFit and let Jenny know I sent you!

Goalgetter2013 – How did I do in February?

6

Another month is coming to an end, which means it’s time to follow up on my February Gogalgetter2013 post. As a reminder, here is my post from the beginning of the month.

My goal for February was to complete the 3 races I was registered for!

goalgetter2013 february goals

It seemed like an easy task, I was already registered for them. But in my world, and I’m sure many of you out there can relate to this, nothing is guaranteed. There can be injuries, illness, and more. I am happy to report that I completed all 3 of them AND I have a new half marathon PR!

I had a blast at all 3 races. When I first planned 3 races for one month, the shortest moth of the year, I thought I was a little nuts. But it was a great time and a reminder that I really do love taking part in these events. Hubby also did all three, the Best Damn Race 5K, the Rock N’ Roll Mini Marathon 5K, and the Gasparilla 8K.
