I love food. Anyone who knows me, knows this. I love so many different foods and flavors, and when I find something that mixes all my favorite flavors together, it is love at first bite.
I recently had the opportunity to join the Tampa Bay Bloggers for lunch at Tin Drum Asia Cafe in Oldsmar. Conveniently located between Palm Harbor and Tampa, this cute little spot will likely be a go-to for me and often.
Legend has it that in ancient times, there was a man who would walk the streets beating on a tin drum, calling the locals together to laugh, listen to music, catch up on gossip—and most importantly, share a meal. This man was known, not surprisingly, as the Tin Drummer. At the sound of the beat, people would follow the Tin Drummer into the colorful cafes that called from the sidewalks, filling them with the buzz of lively conversation against the clamor of pots and pans and the dizzying scents of sizzling woks. We were quite spoiled with several amazing dishes and they were all incredibly good. We started off with Peking Short Rib Noodles. This may have been my favorite of the day… The red pepper sauce, garlic, and more make for a delicious sweet and spicy dish with tender short ribs and the perfect noodles. And did I mention garlic?
The Peking Short Ribs are available for a limited time only.
Next up were the Chinatown Short Rib Tacos, also with the Peking short ribs and a delicious Asian slaw in a flour tortilla. These would definitely be a lighter version.
I have a confession… I had never had curry before this next dish. I’ve always heard how delicious it is and it is! The Tikka Masala is spicy Indian curry, cilantro, tomatoes, sautéed chicken, and steamed white rice. This has quite a nice little bite to it.
Mango Stir-Fry was probably my second favorite dish because, mango. Sweet chili sauce, fresh mango (so sweet!), basil, onions, bell peppers, crispy chicken, and steamed white rice. Such a nice mix of flavors in this dish.
This is just a sampling of their menu. They also have a wide selection of beverages (I love the mint tea!). Perfect for lunch or dinner, you can dine in or carry out.
