It’s Taco Tuesday! Perfect day to share with you the fantastic tasting we attended last night at Tijuana Flats in Clearwater. First and foremost, I must thank the staff as they were so kind as they shared some of their most popular meals with us. Thank you all for your hospitality!
Of course we started with chips, salsa, guacamole, and queso – the Tijuana Trio. All were delicious. I am, and will always will be, a chips and salsa girl so this was a great start to the evening. Their guacamole is so good, has a nice little kick to it. The salsa was also very good, nice and fresh.
Don’t forget to check out the Hot Bar for a huge selection of hot sauces. We sampled several from sweet to hot and I loved them all. Depending on your tastes, there is one for you.
For the month of February, Tijuana Flats has added ground turkey to their menu. For a limited time, you can choose ground turkey on your favorite menu items. Tijuana Flat wants to #GiveYouTheBird.
For our first sampling, we had Turkey Tostadas. Lightly friend corn tortillas, refried beans, melted cheese, ground turkey, sour cream, and tomatoes. What I loved most about these is how light they were. It was the perfect combination of everything and the seasoning of the ground turkey was so good. I will definitely order these the next time I go there.
Next up, we had Mahi Tacos. I love fish tacos and these were certainly at the top of the list for the best I’ve had. Mahi Mahi in a soft flour tortilla with cabbage, pico de gallo, and a Southwest citrus vinaigrette. Very light and fresh tasting, especially the cabbage and pico de gallo. It hit the spot.
Blackened Chicken Flautas were next and these were hubby’s favorite. Lightly fried flour tortillas, cheese, and blackened chicken served with queso and sour cream for dipping. I love how crispy the tortillas were. I know what hubby will be ordering when he goes to Tijuana Flats for lunch next time.
The last entree we sampled was the Norrito Bowl. What is a Norrito, you ask? No + Burrito = Norrito! It is a light salsa-based rice, black beans, cheese, toppings, guacamole, and your choice of meat. Once again we had the ground turkey. Besides the Turkey Tostadas, the Norrito Bowl was my favorite. Paired with a side of chips for dipping, it would be the perfect lunch for me.
Did you know that Tijuana Flats even has dessert? My sweet tooth was in heaven when I found out we were going to try their Cookie Dough Flautas. Imagine chocolate chip cookie dough in a flour tortilla, lightly fried, and topped with powdered sugar and a side of chocolate syrup for dipping. Oh my goodness, it was the best sweet treat to finish off the evening. They also have churros which I will absolutely have to try next time.
Tijuana Flats has quite the beverage selection. Soda, ice tea, beer, and sangria. I, of course, tried the sangria. Sangria = love and this was very good!
All items are made to order, you can make it a meal with rice beans and drink, and you can also order your meal Powerlite with low fat cheese and fat free sour cream. For specials, Tuesdays and Thursdays are the best days to go.
